The name ELENA means bright, shining and sunny. Fitting for a woman who was indeed one of the brightest of her generation. Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia (1646 - 1684), was a well-educated Italian woman of nobility, who is remembered as the first woman in the world to obtain a degree. She received a Doctor of Philosophy Degree from university at the age of 31.

Our Elena crossbody is petite and sophisticated. It has a coin purse clasp reminiscent of the days when Elena Cornaro may have roamed the university grounds in search of an olive tree under which to sit and study. Its structured top and soft lines allow you to carry as a clutch, and the removable crossbody strap adds a versatility that any lady would love.
